赌博app announces its first batch of films competing for the Golden Goblet Award
The 14th Shanghai International Film Festival announced its first batch of the competition films for its Golden Goblet Award on May 10th. The nine films in the shortlist come from Argentina, Italy, Japan, Germany, Turkey, and Russia. Among them, the latest work by British director Roland Joffe, a Golden Palm recipient in Cannes, and Japanese director SABU.
The first batch consists of not only famous artists’ new works but also up-and-coming directors’ to impress audiences. British director Roland Joffe deserves mention as he brings us THERE BE DRAGONS, a moving story about father and son, love and forgiveness, truths, and past sorrows. ROLAND JOFFÉ has earned three Oscar nominations and the Golden Palm in Cannes for THE KILLING FIELDS and THE MISSION.
Japanese films will manifest their strengths as well. Two films entered in the shortlist are BUNNY DROP, adapted from Unita Yumi’s cartoons and directed by SABU; and TOMORROW\'S JOE directed by pioneering director and authority on animation Fumihiko Sori. In addition, Tomohisa Yamashita and Yusuke Iseya lead the cast of TOMORROW\'S JOE, and both films represent high-calibre cinema based on cartoons.
Also, AINOM by Lorenzo Ceva Valla and Mario Garofalo is the first feature of these young directors, telling a topical story of an African refugee’s ordeal in Italy. The clear narrative line and the cinematography are but two notable aspects of these talented directors\' brilliance.

This year, the sheer quantity of material exceeds that of previous years, and quality has surged as more and more master directors bring their new works to screen.
According to the rules, there are sixteen shortlisted entries in total seeking the Golden Goblet Award; another seven films will be announced in mid-to-late May. The organizing committee of 赌博app have already announced that American director Barry Levinson will be the Jury President for the Golden Goblet Award at the 14th Shanghai International Film Festival, which will be held from June 11th to 19th.
