Synopsis:
Ayano, an energetic teen, is intercepted by an unknown face wearing an unsuspecting school uniform on her walk to class. This young girl tells Ayano that a guy friend of hers thinks Ayano is super cute. Naturally, the bubbly Ayano can\'t help but want to join her in cutting class to go meet this cute guy. While waiting for Ayano\'s secret admirer to return to what Ayano is lead to believe is the boy\'s car, she becomes quickly overpowered by the older girl, blindfolded and bound to the seat. Ayano awakes in a locked basement with her kidnapper. Her distraught family is soon to learn that their daughter\'s kidnapping is the result of her mother\'s doing and that this girl has spent her entire existence studying the way to make Ayano and her family suffer.
Director’s CV:
Starting working in film industry in 1989, HASHIMOTO has participated in various types of work such as film, TV drama, TV commercial and music video. In 1991, he established Wilco Co., Ltd. with his friends and became President in 1996. “Umbilical Cord” is his first feature film for theatrical release.
WAYS OF THE SEA (Philippines, 2010, 76’)

Synopsis:
Halaw, in malay-bahasa, means “driven-away.” The film tackles the relevant theme of exploitation and human trafficking from Mindanao to Malaysia. The story follows through the journey of different people as they take a arduous journey into uncharted territories and illegally cross the borders of Bongao, Philippines to Sabah,Malaysia in the hopes of substituting certain poverty for an uncertain future that awaits them.
Director’s CV:
Sheron Dayoc is a Mindanaon Filmmaker and a Visual Artist. He comes from a Protestant family, educated in a catholic institution, and raised in a Christina-Muslim inhabited city – Zamboanga. Halaw (Ways of the Sea) is his first feature length film that won him a Special mention, NETPAC at the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival and competed in Pusan, Tokyo, Milan, and other festivals in Asia and Europe. The film also won best film, best director, best actor, and best editing at the 2010 Cinemalaya Independent Film festival, known as the “ Sundance of the Philippines.” His second film project "SATRA" has been selected for the June 2011 Sundance Film Institute Script Lab.

Born in 1972 in Tehran, Keivan Alimohammadi holds an BA in English Translation and he\'s a graduate of Training Center for Filmmaking too and he\'s been a film critic and translator in Iranian art magazines for four years.
Born in 1969 in Tehran, Omid Bonakdar is a graduate of Training Center for FIlmmaking who started his film career as a critic and translator for Iranian art periodicals. He\'s also an artist who has participated in some watercolor painting group exhibitions as well.
Keivan and Omid made their friendship at the Training Center for Filmmaking and then they started their film career as critic and filmmaker together as a team. Keivan and Omid have co-dircted 9 short and documentary films, edited 4 documentaries and collected 9 awards from Iranian film festivals.
SUN BEATEN PATH (China, 2010, 88’)

Synopsis:
Nima, a soon-to-be groom, waits with his brother at a crossroad for his mother’s return from their sister’s house in town. His brother rides his motorcycle with their mother on the back seat, while Nima drives a brand new hand tractor behind them. His mother’s waistband was accidently caught in the rear wheel of the motorcycle. The force of the fast moving motorcycle pulled their mother off the back seat. Following too closely to the motorcycle, Nima’s hand tractor tragically kills his fallen mother.
Sorrow and guilt overpower Nima so much that he cannot forgive himself. He heads to Lhasa as a pilgrim prostrating all the way there. However his pilgrimage does not alleviate his grief and guilt. On the way back from Lhasa he meets an old man. Together they cross no man’s land.

Born in Qinghai Province, Song Taijia got a B.A. of Fine Arts from Qinghai Normal University in 2003. And he received training in Cinematography in Beijing Film Academy from 2003-2005. Song Taijia started a career as a artist since 1994, and made many productions among which “Series of Life” and “Series of Red” are of great fame. In 2002, Song Taijia began to make films.
KAASAN MOM\'S LIFE (Japan, 2010, 114’)

Synopsis:
Rieko SAIBARA is Mom to a son Bunji and daughter Fumi. She supports her family drawing cartoons. Each morning is like a warzone for her, sending the kids off to daycare. Her husband Yutaka KAMOSHIDA is in hospital. He was a war photographer and now he is battling an alcohol dependency. A free spirit, he does whatever he pleases...he sneaks out of the hospital and his increasing dependence on alcohol makes his everyday behavior erratic. So Rieko divorces him. Finally realizing how lost he is without his family, KAMOSHIDA decides to make an effort to reunite with them. Eventually he gets the better of his dependency and returns home. Rieko welcomes him back into the family, even though they remain divorced. But this time KAMOSHIDA is diagnosed with terminal cancer. The family has to face their fate and eventually say goodbye...

KOBAYASI was born on March 3.1971.Before his directorial debut with Family Secret in 2006, he assisted Yuji Nakae in Babbie\'s Love, Kazuyuki Izutsu in Break Through!/Pacchigi!, Lee Sang-il in 69 sixtynine, Kichitaro Negishi in What the Snow Brings/Yuki ni Negaukoto along with many other filmmakers. With his first movie, KOBAYASI won the Best Director Award at Japan Movie Direction Association Awards. Kaasan MOM\'S LIFE is his second movie.
TD DASAN STD VI B (India, 2010, 98’)

Synopsis:
T D Dasan tells the story of a mother and a son in a village in Palakkad. Chandrika\'s husband Divakaran had deserted her and her son, when Dasan was merely an year old. Ever since Chandrika had lost contact with her husband, over the years she had learned to fend for herself and her son. Dasan on the other hand, is never able to stop dreaming about his father. So, when he accidentally comes across Divakaran\'s address in Chandrika\'s cloth box, Dasan writes a letter to his father, without letting his mother know about it. Does the letter reach Divakaran?

Ever since Mohan Raghavan’s post-graduate studies in Theatre Arts from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Mohan was drawn to the world of cinema. By the late 1990s, he made his mark in the local television industry as an award-winning script writer for serials. Meanwhile, he also found time for theatre. Opportunities to work as associate director to some of the noted directors in the local film industry, instilled great deal of confidence in Mohan. The turning point of Mohan as a film director came through the Malayalam film - T D Dasan Std VI-B. Mohan Raghavan\'s creative instincts are oriented towards films that can portray human lives and situations that are not usually identified in normal life.

Synopsis:
From Fuyang to Shenzhen, from Shenzhen to Shanghai, from Shanghai to home? Leaving hometown was her choice, the choice out of no choice. Returning home was her dream, the dream getting blinded by neons in the city. When a seeming fraud meets an innocent motive, we find a way back home. It is bumpy, lumpy and it is warm-hearted.
Good intentions may be the camouflage for deceptions while the crooks may ooze warmness and tenderness. Not matter how far away from home, 60000 miles, 600 miles or only 6 miles. In the end, when looking back, we realize, the moment of leaving was only the starting point of returning.

TENG Yung-Shing is a veteran Taiwanese director of commercials active in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland China. He has been famous for making celebrating commercials for over a decade and he has kept burning the fire of his dream: to make full-length features. Following up the first feature film Love At 7-11, Return Ticket is his first time directing a Chinese movie.
ROSARIO (Philippines, 2010, 115’)

Synopsis:
Rosario, a young and liberated woman in the 1920s who has just arrived from New York, is spending her vacation in their hacienda. There, she meets and falls in love with Vicente, an older man who manages the tobacco plantation owned by Rosario\'s family. When Rosario\'s father finds out about his daughter\'s scandalous affair, he sends Rosario to a convent. She escapes and elopes with Vicente to Manila where they raise a family. But Rosario\'s life of married bliss slowly crumbles when Vicente becomes ill with tuberculosis, and she is lured to committing adultery. Temptation and scandal still hound Rosario as she continues to defy the moral restrictions of her time.

An accomplished and well-respected actor in the Philippines, Alberto P. Martinez, more popularly known by his screen name, Albert Martinez, has done more than 100 movies before he ventured into directing his first full-length feature film, “Rosario”.
In 2007, he and his partners organized Cinemabuhay, an independent production company that aims to help aspiring filmmakers in penetrating the local mainstream movie business. Under Albert’s leadership as executive director, Cinemabuhay was able to produce three independent movies: “Numbalikdiwa”, “Cul de Sac”, and “Slow Fade”. But Albert’s real passion is directing movies and he fulfills that dream—and makes that bold first step—in “Rosario”.

He was graduated from the Communication University of China and the Beijing Film Academy. In 2007, he worked as the screenwriter of his film debut HELP, which on January 1, 2008 was nationally released, and was invited to exhibit in the Shanghai International Film Festival.
