Norah Xi’s A Touch of Your Heart and Song Fang’s The Calm won the Most Creative Project award last night at the closing ceremony of the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival \'s New Talent Project.
A Touch of Your Heart tells the story of a young girl born with the special talent of mind-reading and how a charlatan fortune teller invites her to join the business.
“I’m very happy to get this award. I would like to thank Shanghai International Film Festival and my friends,” Xi said.
Song’s feature film The Calm is about a documentary director in her thirties who breaks up with her boyfriend and goes it alone to face the sorrow of separation.
The New Talent Project is the renamed China Film Pitch & Catch. It is a platform for supporting young Chinese film talents and to help them turn ideas into real films.
The award for Most Promising Project to Invest went to Xu Wei’s Lost In White, a suspense thriller focused on how two cops join forces to solve two murder cases that seem unrelated but eventually lead them to a mine that\'s been shut for 10 years.
Four Special Attention Awards were also announced at the ceremony.
Jury president and movie director He Ping was joined on the panel by producer Yeh Jufeng, director Abe Kwong Man-Wai and producer Julian Alcantara. American producer Gary Kurtz and Chinese producer Nina Han were assisting as \'trainers.\'
