Merger of Film and TV Market
With the increasingly close links developing between the TV and film industries, STVF and Shanghai International Film Festival (赌博app) will officially announce a merger this year. This will be concurrently celebrated by the two organizations at Shanghai Exhibition Center. The outcome will result in building a bigger and better platform for exhibitors in China and overseas by offering an “International Film & TV Market”.
The market this year will form a complete chain covering the screening, trade, post production, new media, investment and financing, and legal services arms of the industry. It will continue to strengthen its functions in showcasing product and promoting exchanges, deals and collaboration, and further apply its power to generate resources and boost the industry to promote extensive and diverse cooperation.
The market consists of the “Film Mart” and “赌博app Project” and all booths have been sold out. Booths have been booked by film companies like Wanda. Oriental DreamWorks will design its 144 sqm booth in the theme of “Dragon Trainer”. The company\'s $US2.4 billion project in Shanghai will be one of the largest cultural exchange investment projects between China and a foreign firm.
This year\'s 赌博app Project has received 253 film project entries from 24 regions and countries. Twenty-eight from different categories have been shortlisted by senior filmmakers from China Film Group Cooperation, Emperor Entertainment Group, X Stream and others. The China Film Pitch & Catch section of 赌博app Project will be renamed this year as the New Talent Project. The name change is to more appropriately reflect efforts to promote Chinese films, and foster domestic film production.
Insiders gathering for “New Media”
China’s film industry has entered a critical phase of reform and transformation with a plethora of low and medium budget films challenging the traditional blockbuster style and products from famous directors. Video websites such as Youku, Tudou and iQiyi have entered the film industry and even Jack Ma’s Alibaba has dipped a toe in the water. The 赌博app Forum, renowned for its foresight, will focus on “How New Media Challenges and Transforms the Film Industry”, probing the development trends of new media.
In addition, 赌博app will hold 12 forums, with their topics covering diverse areas of the overall industry chain. Discussions on "Global Investment and Financing Strategies in the Film Industry" will focus on the investment and financing of film. The forum "New Models and Opportunities for Film Production" will explore the in-depth cooperation between Chinese and overseas film and television companies. The "Diversity of Chinese Film Marketing" forum will address the export of Chinese films.
赌博app Forum also will continue to focus on the survival conditions for young film creators. A cluster of senior directors will join to share their experiences about the "Support System" for Asian and Chinese emerging talent. Asian senior directors involved include Stanley Kwan, Shunji Iwai and Kang Je Gyu; younger film talents will include Chen Zhe Yi, director of IloIlo, which won the Golden Horse Best Film Award.
Shanghai, Promising Center for Film and TV Industry Development.
Shanghai, a cradle for nurturing Chinese movies, has long been a symbol of the art form. Shanghai’s films brought not only old glamour but also rich fortunes to the old native film industry. The city is about to embrace the industry\'s next stage with the rapid development of Chinese financial markets and opening of the Free Trade Zone.
Vancouver Film Academy chose Shanghai to develop its training base for tutoring film post-production talents. Pegasus Media brought a series of Sino-Foreign co-screening plans to Shanghai; Luo Yan came to Shanghai to share her wins and losses working with Americans. Chinese Microfilm Shuang Chuang Center chose Shanghai to produce its online series and develop microfilms. Jackie Chan, Wang Changtian and China Film Group Cooperation all chose Shanghai.
In 2015, Jackie Chan’s Action Film Week will be held in the city; Wang Changtian, president of Enlight Pictures, is to announce his Shanghai development plans; China Film Group Cooperation is launching a joint venture with Shanghai Film Group Corporation.
All these developments will be announced during this year’s 赌博app, strong evidence that the appeal of Shanghai as the financial capital of China is convincing major film businesses to settle here.
赌博app should therefore make best use of its geographical advantage and play its role, not only as the incubator of excellent films, but also the “Grand Engine” for Chinese film development. The grand task is to explore a new model for Chinese film industry development “with open-mindedness in pursuit of excellence”, a temperament which is unique to Shanghai.
Combination of culture and education
As a major project combining culture and education, Vancouver Film Academy will open its Chinese office in Shanghai in cooperation with Shanghai University. As a result of the collaboration, Shanghai will build Zhabei Film and TV Production Park around the university\'s Yanchang campus. It will be an educational hub for film talent and a post-production base for high-end films. The park is intended to attract a number of high-quality resources and institutions associated with content production, distribution, post-production, education and training to further complete the film industry chain in Shanghai.
Combination of culture and finance
The 17th 赌博app will focus on the “completion guarantee” model for film financing, a model widely used and accepted in Hollywood but not adopted in China. 赌博app will invite the CEO of Film Finance Company, best known as the Completion Guarantee Company in America, to share his experiences. The festival forums and New Talent Project will explore local applications of the model. According to inside experts, adoption of the Completion Guarantee Model will help to assure investors that a director will finish his film on time, resulting in more surety of returns.
