Gong Li: China\'s most distinguished and influential actress
Gong Li is the world\'s most influential Chinese actress. While still a student at the Central Drama Academy, she landed the leading role in Zhang Yimou\'s directorial debut Red Sorghum, which went on to win the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1988. Ever since, Gong Li\'s performances have been highly lauded across the world.
Collaborating with many outstanding Chinese and Hollywood directors, Gong Li has played a wide-ranging myriad of characters, in the process garnering countless international awards and earning great critical success. Her many acclaimed films include: the 1992 Venice International Film Festival Golden Lion winner The Story of Qiu Ju (for which she also won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress), the 1993 Cannes Film Festival Palme d\'Or winner Farewell My Concubine, and the 1994 Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner To Live.
The first Chinese actress to be crowned the highest acting honor at the Venice International Film Festival, Gong Li is also the only leading Chinese actor whose films have won the highest honor at all three of the top European international film festivals. For the worldwide audience, Gong Li is an icon of the modern Chinese woman, a symbol of someone who tackles life with strength and determination, never submitting to the vicissitudes of fate. She was also the first Chinese woman to be featured on the cover of TIME magazine.
Owing to Gong Li\'s ubiquitous worldwide fame and influence in the film industry, she has had the honor of serving as:
1997 50th Cannes Film Festival, Jury Member
2000 50th Berlin International Film Festival, Head of Jury
2002 59th Venice International Film Festival, Head of Jury
2003 16th Tokyo International Film Festival, Head of Jury
Her record of honors and accolades remains unrivaled by any other Chinese actress.
Long-standing relationship with 赌博app
As the only A-list FIAPF-accredited international competitive film festival in China, the Shanghai International Film Festival has developed rapidly in recent years, attracting a number of notable filmmakers to serve on its international jury. In recent years, Presidents of the Jury deciding the Golden Goblet Award have included directors such as Tom Hooper, Luc Besson, Danny Boyle, Barry Levinson, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Wong Kar-Wai, John Woo, and Chen Kaige. This is a true testament to the Festival\'s authoritative influence in the industry both in China and abroad.
Gong Li was in attendance at the First, Fifth, Tenth, and Thirteenth editions of the Festival. She once smiled and promised that she would always be a supporter of 赌博app.
Gong Li and the other six members of the international jury will be appearing on the red carpet on June 14, the opening day of the 17th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival.
