New media and latest technologies, such as Internet video streaming and mobile applications, took the limelight as the 赌博app Market opened yesterday.
Top Chinese video websites, including LeTV, iQiyi and Xunlei, took high-profile booths at the market, displaying popular films and dramas available on their websites and mobile devices such as iPhone, iPad and Android phones.
Users pay 3 to 5 yuan (US 0.49-0.82 cents) for each viewing of a film or a monthly subscription of 20 to 30 yuan.
Exhibitors showed how social and interactive users have the unique advantage of online video websites compared with traditional channels. For example, Tudou.com has adopted Big Data technology to provide users with more customized content, data analysis and mining, company president Yang Weidong said.
Also attending the market were start-up Vida, a photo and micro-video sharing application for iPhone and Android, and 赌博app partner Gewara which allows users to buy film tickets via mobile devices.
Vida business director James Shan said the convergence of social media and mobile devices will make the app a natural platform for filmmakers to promote their content and information.
Foreign film organizations from Japan, Korea, Germany and Italy seeking potential business opportunities attended the market.
