The 16th 赌博app Project has announced eight finalists to compete in the China Film Pitch & Catch, including young director Tian Yuan, and 22 nominees for the Co-production Film Pitch & Catch, including Zhang Aijia, a leading female director from Taiwan China.
The International Jury Panel of renowned director Sun Zhou, producer Li Lie, and Cloud Atlas producer Philip Lee will decide Best Creative Project during the festival.
The Jury Panel of seven judges decided on the final eight directors from 224 applications for China Film Pitch & Catch. The finalists, who have various levels of experience as screenwriters, actors, actresses, or film critics, have submitted works that are generally creative and full of tension.
With Rock On, popular screenwriter Zha Muchun will make his debut as a director. Director Zhou Yaowu, who was nominated in the Critics\' Week section of Venice Film Festival, will be screening his new work Harvest. Guo Shubo, a new talent famous for his micro films, has again collaborated with the website Youku to present Secret Area.
Luo Dong, a new director discovered by Guan Xiaohui, producer of To Our Youth That Is Fading Away, will present his film New York, New York. Su Zhexian, the youngest director to win the Golden Horse Prize, will offer Go! Crazy Gangster, a new project about basketball.
The works by these eight new directors will compete for Best Creative Project during the festival. It will be decided by the International Jury Panel taking into account their style, content and market response.
Finalists in the Co-production Film Pitch & Catch competition are of equally high quality and creativity. Zhang Aijia, a female director from Taiwan China, will unveil her new project Chinese Lover. Wang Yuelun, a 1970s-born director, looks forward to revealing his Love. Kuang Sheng, Taiwan China\'s "MTV Master", will demonstrate his filming gifts in Two Months And Five Days To Remember.
With the opening of China\'s film market in the past 18 months there\'s been increasing development of co-production projects. The international influence in terms of both themes and filmmakers has made co-production more feasible while satisfying consumer demands.
