Director Feng Xiaoning\'s movie Jia Wu Da Hai Zhan bagged the Best Picture award last night at the China Movie Channel Media Awards ceremony.
The epic war drama is set in the late 19th century and aims to reinterpret the historical facts about the War of Jiawu.
Lin Lisheng won Best Director award for his thriller Million Dollar Crocodile, starring Barbie Hsu and Guo Tao. The film is about a giant crocodile that escapes after swallowing a bag containing 100,000 Euros.
Wu Ma won Best Actor in a Leading Role award for his excellent performance in Wu Dao Zi, a film portraying the life of the famous Tang dynasty artist.
Best Actress in a Leading Role award went to Fang Qingzhuo for the film Bao Zou Ma Ma. The film is based on the loving commitment of Chen Yurong, a mother who walked 10km every day for seven months to lose weight so she could donate part of her liver to her sick son.
Qin Yi presented the award to Fang and Chen was present at the awards ceremony with the cast of the film.
Xia Wei won Best Screenplay award for Shanghai Calling, a story about the challenges faced by a Chinese American assigned to Shanghai to expand the firm\'s business in China. Daniel Henney, who plays Sam Chao in the film, also won Best New Actor award.
Sun Haiying, who plays Li Hongzhang in Best Picture winner Jia Wu Da Hai Zhan, won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award and Jiang Shan from First Time was Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
